I remember my mom making homemade beans when I was little. The house would feel all warm and cozy as the beans simmered on the stove. Fast forward a few years, and I am now married to a Colombian, who could probably eat rice and beans with every meal. I’m not big on canned beans and I usually forget to soak beans the night before. What I love about this recipe is how simple it is! I don’t have to pre-soak the beans and the flavor and texture come out perfectly. I usually use black beans for this recipe, but you could substitute with other types of beans as well.
STEP ONE: Wash and Prepare the Beans
Sift through the beans and take out any rocks, and the funny or broken beans. Rinse them off well.
STEP TWO: Throw Everything into a Slow Cooker
Add beans, water, onion, garlic cloves, bouillon, and salt to slow cooker.
STEP THREE: Allow Beans to Cook, and Enjoy!
Cook beans on high 3-4 hours. Done!
